70kms south of Fitzroy Crossing (WA). The community has a one square mile excision on Go Go station.

Approximately 180 people. There are 35community houses. 5 staff houses (school and community). Predominant languages are Walmajarri and Kriol.

Access
There are two roads into Fitzroy Crossing, with the dry season route approximately 75kms and the wet season route approximately 130kms. Neither of these roads are all- weather.
Administration
The community physically began in 1989. It is an Aboriginal corporation under Federal legislation and the community must comply with the rules of the Registrar of Aboriginal Corporations. The council has 12 members.
General
Yakanarra is in the semi-arid tropics. It is sandhill country with acacia scrub. It is located on the edge of the St George ranges and approximately 30kms form the permanent waters of the Fitzroy River. Wet seasons are erratic and unpredictable, average temperatures being around the 40c mark. In winter average temperatures are between 20c-30c.
